I flew to Denver this past weekend to spend my best friend's birthday with her. During these three days she and her sweet aunt stuffed me with food from the best of the best eateries in the city! I was in heaven. The first day we went for dinner at a (what seemed to be) pub in the Cherry Creek area named The Cherry Cricket which was actually feautured on the show Man Vs. Food. It might have just been a busy night for them, but I didn't enjoy the service in particular and the food was a little less than great. That same night after visiting the Cherry Creek mall we visited Bonnie Brae Ice Cream which was amazing! So amazing. I was glad to see their flavors weren't the boring typical same old. I got a double scoop waffle cone of Mocha Oreo and Triple Death Chocolate while my friend got the same but of Tiramisu and Mocha Oreo.
The next day we went to Beaujo's Pizza where we both ordered what they call "mountain pies" which feature their hand rolled edges and "mountains" of ingredients. The pizza was beyond delicious but here's the even cooler part - they bring you honey to put on your crust. At first I was real iffy because I am a very picky eater... but this stuff was better than heaven. Really. I am from now on going to have honey on any pizza crust I consume. It even tasted good on the entire pizza, cheese, sauce and all! This place forever changed my narrow mindedness about pizza condiments.
After that we went walking down Broadway looking through all the little shops and boutiques and stumbled upon another ice cream shop called Sweet Action. Again these flavors were more than just the regular! (Woohoo for Denver!) Here, I chose a single scoop waffle cone of Salted Butterscotch while my friend got a single scoop of Vietnamese Coffee. It was so delicious.
That night for my friend's birthday we went for dinner at The Cheesecake Factory. I had never eaten there before and there is not one in my hometown, so I was excited. Everything fell short when they notified us they were out of pasta for the night... crazy, right? I really wanted to try the four cheese pasta. My friend got an appetizer of fried macaroni and cheese which was really good and not as heavy as you'd think. For dessert, I got the Fresh Banana Cream Cheesecake... I was attempting to try new things, but, I didn't like it. My friend got the Godiva Chocolate Cheesecake (which was really good, if you're a chocolate lover), her aunt got the Lemon Raspberry Cheesecake (which I didn't try), and another friend got the Vanilla Bean Cheesecake (which was a nice light cheesecake).
My last day, before I left, we just had to go back to Bonnie Brae Ice Cream. I wish I could take the entire place back home with me. Since it was my last time I got a triple scoop waffle cone (still trying new flavors) of Snickers Delight, Cappuccino Crunch, and Butter Brickle. Butter Brickle and Salted Butterscotch (from Sweet Action) have got to be hands down the best ice cream I've ever had. My friend got Triple Death chocolate (again) and Cappuccino Crunch. Seriously, this ice cream place has the most perfect consistency and flavor-filled, delicious, tasty, ice cream!
Okay... so, confession. While waiting for my flight at the airport I saw they have a Ben & Jerry's store. I know, I know, you can buy Ben & Jerry's tubs anywhere. But I mean I've never actually been to a Ben & Jerry's and I thought it might be a different experience. It wasn't. I got Late Night Snack which consisted of vanilla bean ice cream with a salty caramel swirl and fudge covered potato chip clusters. Either I had too much ice cream that day or this was just gross. Sorry.
