G had warned me he had a surprise for me this past Saturday... needless to say, it was a good one! Both of us have a little addiction to watching Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives so he was very excited to find this little diner in our city! We started off with "mozzarella stixs" appetizer which came with both ranch and marinara. I had never tried the familiar starter with ranch before, but I loved it! I ended up grubbing on some stixs dipped in a mixture of the sauce and ranch mmm. (The ranch was not a buttermilk-typical taste, it was moreso similar to that of my fave, Wing Stop, ranch.) As our main dish, G ordered himself the "Southwest Burger" which featured a 1/3 lb. burger with green chile, guacamole, and jack cheese (G added on the bacon for extra deliciousness) with a side of seasoned curly fries. I, on the other hand, ordered myself what is called "The Heartbreaker" which originally consists of a 1 lb. burger carrying an egg, bacon, and double cheese with a side of regular fries. (However, I chose to down-size to a 1/3 lb. for obvious reasons.) Now--here's where I surprised G! Not only did I completely finish my plate when he was only able to finish about 2/3 of his burger, BUT I also ordered myself a beautiful, old-fashioned mocha shake with whipped cream, caramel, and a cherry on top. It was kind of cool to see that they also bring out any leftovers of the shake in a separate container as if the shake itself isn't enough to enjoy. I finished the shake solo. I was a happy girl that day.
The bottom photos display the burger portion of the fab menu at AJ's Diner and a small gist of what the place looks like. After seeing their full menu online, I found out they also serve breakfast! Looks like we'll be back sooner than I thought.
